My client said my logo looked like a 'sad blob' and it actually helped

I was working on a logo for a new coffee shop, spent like 8 hours on this abstract coffee bean shape. The owner looked at it and just said 'it looks like a sad blob.' I was kinda mad at first, but then I saw it. I'd been so focused on making it 'unique' that I forgot it needed to look like coffee. I scrapped it, went way simpler with just a clean cup icon and some nice type. The new version got approved in one round. Has anyone else gotten a blunt critique that ended up being the best feedback?

Feel that... sometimes you just need someone to say the obvious thing you're missing. Glad it worked out in the end.
