Just hit 1000 saves on a poster design I made in 2018

I mean, it was just a personal project for a local band in Austin, using a super limited color palette and some rough textures. Seeing that number pop up on my old portfolio site made me realize how much my own taste has shifted since then. Anyone else have an old piece that randomly gets a second life online?

Wait, is a save count from 2018 really a sign of changing taste? It could just be that the algorithm finally pushed it to the right people. My old stuff gets random spikes too, but it's usually because someone with a big account shared it, not because the work itself is timeless. Maybe it's just luck.

My buddy had a photo of a rusty bike rack from 2017. It got like 12 likes. Then last month it jumped to 800 saves overnight. Turns out a small design blog in Oslo used it in a roundup of "urban decay textures." His other photos from that set are still dead. It really does feel totally random.
