I used a color palette generator for a client logo and it gave me the most boring, safe results I've ever seen. Total waste of an afternoon.

Feel your pain, those generators always default to the most basic corporate blues and grays. It's like they're scared to suggest anything with actual personality. Spent way too long messing with one last month before just picking colors myself. Sometimes the old-fashioned way is faster.

My friend's site ended up neon green and hot pink.

Ugh, totally agree @andrewanderson. I finally just looked at album covers and art I liked for color ideas. The generator gave me fifty shades of beige before that. My own two eyes were way faster.
