I finally tried making fermented peppers in my pantry
The lid blew off and hit a light bulb, so now my kitchen has a spicy confetti surprise. Took me an hour to clean up the mess.

Feel your pain completely. Had a jar of kimchi blow its top next to my radiator once. Spent a whole afternoon scrubbing tiny bits of chili paste and cabbage off the wall and ceiling. The whole place smelled like a pickle factory for a week. Ngl, I still love the stuff though.

Man, @hart.reese, that sounds like a nightmare cleanup job. I read somewhere that kimchi can build up a lot of gas if it's too warm, like near a radiator. It's because the good bacteria go into overdrive and make more carbon dioxide or something. Idk, maybe it's just me but I always get nervous when I hear that fizzing sound from a jar. Still, totally worth it for the taste, even with the risk of a messy explosion.
