Dropped $120 on a fancy fermentation crock and it cracked within a month

I bought this big ceramic crock from a local kitchen supply store in Austin, and after my third batch of sauerkraut I noticed a hairline crack running down the side. Whole thing was a total loss. Anyone else had bad luck with those glazed crocks holding up over time?

Have you tried switching to one of those glazed crocks with the water seal around the rim?

Oh man that sucks so much... I feel your pain on this one. I had almost the exact same thing happen with a crock I bought online last year. It was fine for like two months then one day I saw this tiny crack near the bottom and the whole thing was done for. These glazed crocks look nice but they just don't seem to handle the pressure from fermenting very well. I switched to a plain stoneware one without any glaze on the inside and it's been going strong for over a year now. Hope you can find something that lasts better...
