Tried drilling a hole in my portafilter handle and wish I had measured twice

I saw a video where someone drilled a tiny hole in their plastic portafilter handle to loop a rubber band through for extra grip on slippery hands. Thought it was a great hack for my old machine from 2018, but I eyeballed the spot and ended up drilling right where my thumb sits. Now I have a weird bump that digs into my finger every time I tamp. Anyone else try modding handles and regret not measuring first?

Oh man, I feel your pain on this one. I did something similar with a silicone gasket mod a while back and ended up ruining a perfectly good handle because I got too confident. That thumb bump thing sounds brutal, especially right where you need a solid grip. My experience has been that even tiny mods like that can throw off the whole feel of your workflow. I hope you can find a workaround, maybe a little sanding or a grip tape patch, at least for the time being.
