I visited my buddy's place in Denver last Saturday and watched him throw out a perfectly good Baratza burr grinder because the rubber feet disintegrated. He said it was 'too far gone' which is nonsense. I grabbed a $6 Park Tool patch kit from his bike stand, cut two small squares, and glued them over the nubs with rubber cement. That 3D printed portafilter handle snapped mid-pull, coffee everywhere, 6AM

Printed one of those cool ribbed handles for my Gaggia last month, looked great, felt great. This morning it just gave up right as the pump kicked in. Hot water and grounds sprayed my whole counter, took 20 minutes to clean. I used PLA, should I have used PETG or ABS? Also thinking about just buying a metal one and wrapping it in leather instead. Anyone else had a printed part fail at the worst possible time?

Cheap Amazon temp strips read 20 degrees off, check yours

I taped one of those stick-on thermometer strips to my steam wand and it said 160F when my cheap probe read 180F, that's a huge gap for milk texture. I tested 3 strips from the same pack against boiling water and they were ALL off by at least 15 degrees. Has anyone else caught these reading wrong before ruining a pitcher?

I've been doing pour overs for about 4 years now with this old gooseneck kettle I got for $18 at a garage sale in Portland. Last week I borrowed my buddy's nicer kettle and my pour suddenly had way more control, no more sputtering or drips running down the side. I finally tried the paperclip trick on my espresso machine's steam wand

I always thought cleaning the steam wand with just a wet cloth was enough. Then last week I noticed milk was building up inside the tip and the steam pressure was getting weak.
