Spent $15 on a silicone gasket kit and it ruined my espresso machine seal for weeks

I got that cheapo $15 silicone gasket set from Amazon to replace the one on my Gaggia Classic. Thing was way too stiff and actually deformed the group head after a few pulls. Ended up spending $8 on a proper Cafelat gasket from a shop in Portland and it fit perfect. Anyone else get burned by those multi-pack knockoffs or did I just pick a bad brand?

Man, I heard about this exact same issue on a coffee forum last month. Some guy tested a bunch of those cheap multi-packs with a caliper and found they were all like 2-3mm thicker than spec. No wonder they wreck the seal. The soft silicone used in those things just doesn't hold up either. My buddy put one in his Rancilio Silvia and it started leaking after like 10 shots. Total garbage. You definitely didn't just pick a bad brand, they're all pretty much the same cheap junk from the same factory. The Cafelat ones are worth every penny since they're actually made for the machine.
