My $9 flea market grinder burr hack saved my morning routine

Picked up a beat-up hand grinder at a yard sale in Austin for $9 last month. The burrs were dull as hell and it was grinding super uneven, so I tried sanding them flat with some 400 grit on a flat surface. Took like 40 minutes of careful rubbing but now the grind is way more consistent than I expected. I figured I'd ruin it and just use it for parts but it's honestly my daily driver now. Anyone else ever tried sharpening or flattening burrs at home, or is that a dumb move long term?
