My $4 thrift store French press exploded mid plunge and I fixed it with a zip tie
Last Tuesday I was pressing a dark roast too hard and the whole glass beaker popped off the handle, spraying grounds all over my kitchen wall. I strapped it back together with two zip ties and a rubber band, and honestly it pours better than before, though my roommate says it looks like a science experiment gone wrong. Has anyone else had a press shatter on them, or am I the only one who pushes down like I'm trying to kill it?

pressing a dark roast too hard" yep that's your problem right there. coarse grind and go slow, the plunge should feel like pushing through mud not breaking glass. zip ties are a solid fix though, respect.
