Just realized my old French press base makes a perfect drip coffee funnel stand
Was visiting my buddy Mike's place last weekend and saw he had this beat up French press sitting on his counter with the plunger completely rusted out. He said he was about to toss it. I grabbed the carafe and base off him. Turns out if you take the screen and plunger rod out, the metal base holds a standard size pour over cone perfectly. The lip is wide enough that the cone sits stable and the carafe underneath catches everything. Cost me zero dollars and works way better than the cardboard box I was using before. Anyone else repurpose broken coffee gear into something useful?

Wait, isn't that basically what a Chemex stand is doing but way cheaper? I did something similar last year with an old Mr. Coffee carafe that had a cracked heating plate, just plopped my plastic V60 right on top and it's been my daily driver ever since. It's amazing how much good stuff we toss out when all it needs is a little sideways thinking to turn it into something better.
