Just noticed my espresso shots were taking way too long to pull
I've been using a bottomless portafilter for about six months and thought my 35 second shots were fine. Then I watched a video where someone pulled a shot in 25 seconds and their crema looked way thicker. How do you guys check if your grind is actually dialed in vs just getting lucky?

You have my sympathy on this one, I went through the exact same thing a few months ago. 35 seconds sounds reasonable until you see someone else's 25 second shot with that gorgeous tiger stripe crema. I started timing every single shot and writing down the grind setting to figure out where I was at. What grinder are you using?

Right, @jade_hunt48, timing every shot is where the real fun begins... nothing like a little self-inflicted math homework to go with your morning caffeine. My grinder's a cheap Eureka Mignon, probably why I'm still figuring out if my 30 second pulls are "dialed in" or just a happy accident.
