I hit 500 brews on my frankenstein v60 setup

My diy dripper rig with a thermostat from an old humidifier and a plastic funnel just crossed 500 cups, I track it with a tally mark on the wall. The weird part is the sweet spot on the flow valve, it took 43 tries to dial in but now it's more repeatable than my $200 machine. Anyone else keep a counter on their hack builds, or am I the only weirdo marking dry-erase lines?

The warmup drift gets everyone, @christopher_hunt hit it on the head.

The 43 tries stat is what kills me. Did you actually log what changed between those attempts, like brew time or water temp, or were you just fiddling with the valve until the cup tasted right? I ask because I ran a similar thing with a modified soup warmer and it took me about 30 tries before I figured out my issue was thermal mass, not flow. My guess is your humidifier thermostat is reacting slower than you think, so that sweet spot might be tied to how long it's been running. Have you tested it after 10 minutes of idle vs right at startup?
