Just realized the scent "Fresh Linen" means totally different things to different brands
Was at my sister's place last weekend. She uses this fancy lemon ginger soap. Smells like a kitchen exploded. I asked if she had any "normal" dish soap. She handed me her "Fresh Linen" bottle. Sniffed it and it smelled like a clean t-shirt straight out the dryer. Then I remembered the "Fresh Linen" I bought at the dollar store last month. Smelled like bleach and regret. Not even close to the same thing. How is that even allowed? Anyone else get burned by a scent name that lied to you?

That line about "smelled like bleach and regret" is exactly it. I learned the hard way to never buy generic brand scent stuff. The dollar store "Fresh Linen" basically lied to my nose. Now I only buy the big brand name ones for laundry and dish soap. Check the ingredients list too. If it lists "fragrance" as the main scent ingredient, run the other way. Real linen smell comes from specific oils and surfactants, not cheap perfume chemicals. Stick with Tide or Gain if you want the real deal.

Oh wow, this is too real! My roommate once bought me "Coastal Breeze" air freshener and it straight up smelled like a fish market with a hint of salt. I was like, is this the ocean or a pier after a storm? And don't even get me started on "Vanilla Bean" candles that smell like burnt sugar and sadness. I swear these companies just pick names out of a hat and hope nobody notices. Now I just ask to sniff everything before I buy, even if the cashier gives me weird looks.
