Watched a master tech in Amarillo tear down a 15L Cummins in under 4 hours and felt like a rookie all over again

We had a fleet truck come in with a blown head gasket and this old timer just ripped that engine apart like it was nothing. No air tools just hand wrenches and a system he's had for 40 years. I was standing there with my $400 snap-on set and felt like I was moving through molasses compared to him. I asked him his secret and he just laughed and said 'route your sockets in order of removal every time.' Has anyone else run into something like this that made you rethink your whole approach to a job?

Used to roll my eyes at guys like that, but seeing it changed my whole mindset.

Felt that way watching a guy pull a transmission with nothing but a floor jack and a 2x4.
