Unpopular opinion: spending $400 on a fancy torque wrench was a waste for me

I know everyone says you gotta have a digital torque wrench for injector work, but I went back to my old beam style after 6 months. The digital one I got from Matco kept giving me different readings on the same bolt. Cost me $400 and it sits in the box now. My $60 beam wrench has never let me down. Has anyone else had bad luck with the expensive electronic ones?

Man I feel your pain on this. I bought a fancy Snap-on electronic torque wrench a couple years back because everyone swore it was the only way to be accurate. Cost me almost $500 and it started giving me wild readings right out of the box on lug nuts. Sent it back twice and they said it was fine but I couldn't trust it after that. Ended up just using my old Craftsman beam wrench for everything and it's never once let me down. Sometimes the simple stuff just works better and costs way less.

Tell me about it. Sometimes the old school tools just don't quit.
