That cloud of white smoke from my exhaust wasn't a head gasket, it was my own dumb fault
Back in March I started noticing a thin white haze out of my 6.7 at idle, and by Memorial Day it was puffing like a chimney at a fish fry. I did the usual panic diagnosis in my driveway in Amarillo, pressure tested the cooling system twice, and even priced out head studs at $1,200 before a buddy said to check my CCV filter. Pulled it, and the thing was so clogged with sludged oil it weighed about 3 pounds more than the new one, which was forcing crankcase pressure straight past the rings. Swapped it for $60 and the smoke went away in 20 minutes of running. Any of you running high idle hours see this around 150k, and are you swapping the filter or going to a reroute kit?
