Switched from impact to hand tools for fan hubs after a 2AM fail

Honestly, I used to buzz every fan hub bolt off with my air impact. Last month I hit a 2002 Freightliner in a pinch and the clutch hub threads were so rusted it just spun the whole assembly, snapped the bracket clean. A buddy of mine, Tom from Louisville, told me to go back to a breaker bar and a 36mm socket for any hub that's been sitting over 100k miles. Now I crack them by hand first, then use the impact if it gives. Tbh, the extra 5 minutes saves me from a tow bill, anyone else dealing with rusted fan hubs like this?
