Found a weird stat about injector pulse width and fuel economy

Ngl, I was digging through some old Cummins data sheets last week and found out that a 0.5 millisecond change in injector pulse width can drop fuel economy by 8% on a 6.7L. I double checked it with a buddy who runs a dyno and he said it checks out. Has anyone else seen real world gains from tweaking pulse width on common rail engines?

I was just about to say, you know what really saves fuel? Not smashing the throttle to pass every slow driver on a two-lane highway. But sure, let's all get real scientific about pulse width while running 40 inch tires and a lift kit. That's like tuning a race car for fuel economy while towing a boat uphill. If that 0.5ms change really works, I'll bet the guys on the forums will argue about it for three pages before someone admits they also adjusted their driving habits.
