Can we talk about torquing lug nuts to spec instead of just ugga dugga?
Last month I watched a young guy at the shop in Gary, Indiana snap a stud clean off a customer's F-250 because he hit it with the impact wide open and never checked the wrench, and I was about to say something until I remembered I did the same thing for years. Then I pulled out my torque wrench, checked my own truck's rear wheels that I'd done by ear 6 months back, and found two lugs sitting at about 60 ft-lbs when they should have been at 165. How many of you actually grab the wrench on your own rig, or is it just me who got lazy on his own stuff?
