A vet at the truck stop in Bakersfield told me to just listen to the injectors
He said 'your ears are the best diagnostic tool you own' while I was stressing over a scanner readout. Anyone else have a simple piece of advice that just clicked for them?

Nah, you get used to the noise, @andrew_nguyen64. After a while, you can hear a single bad injector clear as day over the whole racket.

Bakersfield in July, listening to a diesel engine? That sounds like a special kind of hell. I get the point about using your ears, but man, I'd be worried about missing a faint tick over all the other noise. Did he at least have one of those mechanic's stethoscopes or was it just pure, raw ear to the valve cover?
