A guy at the Freightliner dealer in Boise told me I was over-torquing injector hold-downs

Honestly, I used to crank those things down to 35 ft-lbs thinking tighter was better, but he showed me the service bulletin that said 28 ft-lbs max. Changed my whole approach, now I use a torque wrench every single time. Anyone else get called out on a bad habit that actually stuck?

It's crazy how many things in life we just assume "tighter is better" for, then find out we're actually making things worse.

Got schooled on that exact thing by an old timer at a shop. He saw me going to town on some valve cover bolts and just shook his head. Now I keep the torque wrench in my main box, not buried in the back.
