A foreman in Tulsa said my torque wrench technique was costing me time, and he was dead right
Back when I started on a fleet of 12 Cummins ISX motors in Tulsa, I would always chase the torque specs by feel and just click the wrench until it felt tight. The foreman watched me on a head gasket job, shook his head, and said 'you're losing 40 minutes a truck doing it that way, use the angle gauge or just mark the bolt and socket.' Now I mark every bolt with a paint pen before I break it loose, and I get the same repeatable numbers without guessing. Anyone else had an old hand call them out on something small that ended up saving hours over a whole job?
