The 5 AM Stardew sprinkler layout I almost skipped

I spent 3 weeks in Fall Year 2 staring at my farm layout, convinced I needed to max out every crop tile before winter hit. Then I tried this weird thing where I only placed sprinklers in a 3x3 diamond shape around my scarecrows, leaving the corners empty for flowers and beehives. It felt like I was wasting space, but after one full season I harvested 40% more because I wasn't constantly re-watering or tripping over my own rows. The bees made me 1,800 gold extra too which paid for the greenhouse upgrade early. I keep seeing people post these dense checkerboard farms that look perfect but take forever to maintain. Has anyone else tried leaving visual gaps for utility and ended up happier? Or am I the only one who thinks the empty spots look more natural anyway?

The diamond shape thing is actually smart, but the flowers and beehives aren't why you got more crops. Flowers only boost honey if they're within 5 tiles of a hive, and leaving corners open doesn't change watering times since sprinklers already cover those spots. Your real gain probably came from cutting down on walking paths and having more room for trellis crops like hops or green beans. I ran a similar setup in Spring Year 3 and swapped the corner flowers for scarecrows plus a few chests, saved way more time than the honey ever made.
