Tried that new bond repair treatment on my client last Saturday and it went bad
I used that Olaplex dupe from Sally's on a client who comes to me every 6 weeks for blonde highlights and her hair started snapping off at the roots after I applied it. She's a regular so I felt awful and had to refund her $200 for the whole service. Has anyone else had a bond builder react like this or was it just a bad batch?

I had a bond builder meltdown once with a client who had that really fine, overprocessed hair and somehow I left it on 12 minutes instead of 10 and it turned her ends into literal straw. @the_jana might be onto something about the developer mix though, I accidentally grabbed 20 volume instead of 10 one time and things got real sketchy real fast. My dumb ass thought I could eyeball the timing and nope, never again. It's honestly scary how fast those things can go sideways when you think you know what you're doing.

Snapping at the ROOTS? That is INSANE. I have used that same dupe on like 20 clients and nothing like that ever happened. Could it have been left on way too long or maybe mixed with a stronger developer than what she normally uses? I would be PISSED if I had to refund $200 over something that should have just made her hair feel softer.
