Took me 4 months to figure out why my color formulas kept shifting, and it was the well water
I kept mixing the same formulas and getting different results for months, which was driving me nuts. I checked my scale twice, replaced my bowls, even blamed the new developer I bought at Sally's. Finally a client asked if I had switched shampoo, and it clicked that the salon moved buildings back in March. Our new place runs on well water, and the mineral content was throwing off my color every single time. I spent $80 on a water test and it came back with iron levels that would make you gag. Now I use distilled water for every bowl I mix, which sounds crazy but my reds finally stopped turning orange. Has anyone else dealt with hard water wrecking their formulas, and did you fix it with a filter or just buy jugs?
