That time I messed up color correction on a Saturday morning

I was at my chair in Chicago, 9 AM on a Saturday. Client came in with box dye disaster, wanted silver. I said no problem, stupid move. The first bleach round turned orange, then yellow, but patchy. I panicked for a sec. Grabbed some blue shampoo and a low volume developer, did a quick strand test. Saved it with a demi-permanent silver gloss, but took 4 hours. Never promising silver again without seeing their history first. Anyone else have a color job spiral out in the first 10 minutes?

Tbh that part about "panicked for a sec" is exactly how every color rescue starts. I've been there where you're staring at orange roots and yellow mids and just praying the toner saves you. The worst is when you grab the wrong toner in a hurry and make it worse before it gets better. Like I learned the hard way that blue shampoo will only do so much if the hair is too dark underneath. Your strand test trick is solid though, I need to start doing those on the fly more. That 4 hour timeline sounds about right for a full recovery gig.

Double down on that blue shampoo lesson @carr.daniel because I swear it gives people false hope when they're chasing brass. Strand tests are the only way to keep yourself from gambling on the whole head. Panic is part of the game but it's not a strategy.
