My old mentor told me to stop using a wide-tooth comb on wet hair, and after 6 weeks I have to eat my words
I've been doing curly cuts for 4 years and always raked through wet hair with a wide-tooth comb because it made the clumps sit nice. My mentor Dana, who runs a chair in Oakland, told me back in January to try a wet brush or just finger detangling because the comb was snapping my fine-hair clients at the root. I brushed it off for months, but last month a regular with 3B hair came back with a ton of breakage right at the crown, and I finally switched. Six weeks later her ends look way smoother and I'm barely sweeping up little broken pieces at my station anymore. Any of you still rake with a wide-tooth, or did you switch too?
