I used to think that expensive shears were just a status thing

I overheard a lady at a hair show in Chicago say her $600 pair lasted her 15 years with just one sharpening. I looked at my $80 shears that I replace every 2 years and did the math. Has anyone else made the switch to higher end shears and noticed a difference in how long they stay sharp?

My buddy spent $500 on a pair and they lasted him like 12 years before he even thought about getting them sharpened. He said his old $100 ones would be dull in a year and he'd just pitch them.

Man, that math just makes too much sense. I grabbed a $400 pair three years ago and they still cut like day one, so I totally get why you'd upgrade.
