I just hit 500 balayage clients in my book and it feels weird
I was updating my client notes this morning and the total just popped up. It took me six years to get here, starting from doing them in my mom's kitchen. The thing is, I don't feel like an expert at all, I just feel like I have a lot more questions now than I did at 100. Has anyone else hit a big number and felt more unsure, not less?

That kitchen-to-salon journey is a huge shift. I remember hitting 300 haircuts and realizing I was just starting to see all the different ways hair can behave. The more you do, the more you see the exceptions to every rule you thought you knew.

My buddy's dad was a mechanic for 40 years and he told me once the only thing he knew for sure was that every car could surprise you. I mean, @aaronrobinson is right about seeing all the different ways things can behave. It sounds like you're just seeing more of the surprises now, you know? Maybe hitting a big number just shows you the size of the thing you don't know yet. That kitchen start probably taught you more about trying stuff than any class could.
