Had a client in Spokane tell me I didn't know what I was doing with her color
Honestly I've been doing hair for 8 years now and this woman walks in with box dye disaster on her head. She insisted I use the same $7 drugstore brand she always uses. Took me 45 minutes to explain why I can't just slap that over her previous layers of black dye. She kept saying her cousin does it at home and it looks fine. I finally refused the service and she left a bad review calling me unprofessional. Has anyone else had to walk away from a client like that?

Saying her cousin does it at home works fine doesn't mean her hair wasn't already a wreck before you saw it.

Gotta say, the "my cousin does it at home" argument kills me every time. Like, yeah, and I'm sure her cousin's results look fine from across the room but up close it's prob a whole different story. You did the right thing walking away, honestly. Sometimes you gotta protect your license and your sanity, even if it means a bad review. Box dye over black dye is just asking for a hot mess that takes hours to fix later.
