Caught myself using the same brush on bleach and toner for 6 months

A client's orange roots tipped me off that my toner was being neutralized by leftover bleach residue on the bristles, so I finally rinsed it properly after every single application, and now I'm wondering how many other tools I've been ruining this way, has anyone else had a color disaster from a dirty brush?

Are you sure it wasn't just the toner itself going bad or your developer sitting too long? I've seen people blame brushes for color issues that were actually from cheap product or bad water. Yeah, residue is a thing, but six months of consistent orange roots sounds like you might've been mixing something wrong anyway. A quick once-over with a paper towel before dipping in is enough for most of us, not some full ritual.
