Back in my first salon job, I had a color correction meltdown on a Friday night.

A client wanted platinum from box black and I didn't do a proper test strand. Her ends started snapping during the second bleach process. I stopped everything, used a protein filler, and switched to a deep conditioning plan for 30 minutes. Anyone else have a bleach disaster story and what saved the hair?

That sounds so stressful. Did the protein filler actually stop the breakage in the moment, or was it more about damage control after?

Honestly it was a bit of both. The filler sort of glued the hair together right away, so the snapping stopped while it was in. But the real fix came later, from a good deep conditioner without protein to balance it out. My hair was just too stiff and brittle from the protein overload. So the filler was a quick band-aid, but fixing the moisture was what actually saved it from breaking more the next day. I had to learn that lesson the hard way.
