TIL my neighborhood email list got 3x more replies when I asked for one small thing instead of a big group project
I run the list for about 40 houses in our part of Cincinnati and spent 2 months trying to get a block party going with almost zero replies, so last week I just asked if anyone had a ladder I could borrow for an hour and got 11 responses by dinner. Turns out people will show up for a tiny 10 minute favor but go quiet when you ask for a whole afternoon. Has anyone else had luck starting small like that and building up to the bigger stuff?

Honestly the ladder thing is kinda a trap though. You got 11 replies because it costs people nothing and they feel good saying yes. A block party means someone has to plan food, set a date, and show up for hours. Those are totally different asks and small wins don't always stack into big ones. Half those 11 people probably forgot you exist the next day.
