That talk with my neighbor Carol about her dog changed my whole view on boundaries

So I was complaining to my neighbor Carol last Tuesday about her dog barking at 6 AM. Instead of getting defensive, she just said "I'm sorry, how can we fix this together?" That caught me off guard. I realized I always go into conversations ready for a fight, not a solution. It made me rethink how I handle stuff with my own family and coworkers. Has anyone else had a simple chat totally flip how they approach disagreements?

Wow, imagine that, a person actually talking instead of just yelling through a fence. Must be some kind of wizard or something. Kinda makes you wonder how many dumb arguments we could skip if we just said "how do we fix this" first. Easy to forget that most people aren't actually looking for a fight, they just want the dog to shut up.

Yeah the "dog shutting up" thing is pretty much the root of like 90% of arguments I see online and in real life too... everyone's so busy yelling they forget they actually want the same quiet neighborhood.
