That one comment about my nextdoor posts totally changed how I write them

Someone on the neighborhood page said my posts sounded like I was yelling at everyone because I used all caps for street names. I switched to normal formatting and got 3x the responses on my lost dog post last week. Has anyone else had their tone totally misread in writing?

Oh man, the all caps thing is such an easy trap to fall into. I feel you on that totally misread tone thing too - I had a similar thing happen once where someone thought I was being sarcastic in a comment but I was actually just trying to be helpful. It's wild how something so small can make such a big difference.

Exactly @kaiharris, it's like one wrong word or all caps and suddenly you're in a whole different conversation than you thought... Text is just so flat compared to talking in person where you can hear the tone in someone's voice. I've started rereading my replies twice before posting now just to catch anything that could sound off.
