Shoutout to the grocery clerk who caught my expired coupon mistake

I was at the Safeway on 5th Street yesterday buying a bunch of stuff for a BBQ. Had this coupon for $3 off bacon that I pulled from a magazine. Got to checkout and the clerk scanned it. It beeped red. I almost just said whatever keep it. But she paused and looked at the date. Turns out it expired 2 months ago. She said wait I think there's a newer one in the app. She helped me pull it up right there on her scanner. Saved me the $3 and the bacon was good. Made me think about how often I just give up at checkout when something doesn't work. Has anyone else had a cashier go above and beyond like that?

Hold on though... I'm gonna push back a little here. That clerk technically broke store policy by overriding an expired coupon right? If she did that for you she's probably doing it for everyone and that's how stuff gets messy. Expiration dates exist for a reason and you agreed to the terms when you clipped it. Plus what about the guy behind you in line waiting while she fiddles with her scanner. I've been that guy and it's annoying when one person holds up checkout over three bucks.
