Picked up a weird stat about local parks this weekend

I read that our city's park board spends 40% of its budget just mowing grass every year. Found it buried in a budget report online, blew my mind. Anybody else dig into where your local fees actually go?

40% on mowing? That's insane, our neighborhood park has like three people who ever even use the grass.

Wait what, THREE people? That's it? I honestly would've guessed way more, like maybe twenty or thirty kids running around on a good day. You must live somewhere super quiet, or maybe the park is just not that kid-friendly. Around here, the grass gets absolutely destroyed by the weekend soccer games and birthday parties, so 40% on mowing sounds almost low to me. But hey, your mileage may vary, every neighborhood is different I guess.
