Finally asked my neighbor about her lawn care routine and ended up overwatering my grass for a month
I tried her deep watering method on my St. Augustine grass and now half my yard is yellow because she has a different soil type and I didn't think to ask about that first, anyone else make that mistake?

Oh yeah, the whole "works for them so it must work for me" trap got me too. I watered my fescue like my neighbor does her Bermuda and it basically turned into a swamp, took me two seasons to get it back. So you're definitely not alone in learning the hard way that soil type changes everything.

Oh man, I used to be one of those "dirt is dirt" people. I honestly thought soil was just stuff that holds roots up and you water it the same no matter what. Then I moved to a place with heavy clay and tried to grow lavender like I did in sandy loam. Total disaster. The roots just rotted and the whole thing turned into a muddy mess. Now I actually test my dirt before planting anything, did you learn that lesson from a specific plant too?
