Almost lost my community garden plot over a missed sign-up date

Last month I showed up to water my tomatoes at the Elm Street lot and found a new family tilling my bed because I missed one email about the renewal deadline buried in my spam folder, so has anyone else dealt with a dumb administrative hiccup like that destroying your work?

Used to be all for the rules and regulations side of things. Your mileage may vary, but watching a community garden get shut down over a permit technicality definitely changed my mind about it.
