Went to the San Diego Comic-Con panel for indie creators and noticed something about the audience

I was at a small panel room on Sunday morning, maybe 50 seats, and the speaker asked how many people had ever written fan letters to a comic book company. Almost every hand went up. Then he asked how many had submitted their own art or stories to a publisher. Only 3 hands. It got me thinking about the gap between loving something and doing something with that love. Has anyone else noticed that disconnect at conventions?

That "only 3 hands" part really hits home. Stop waiting for permission and just send one submission a month, even if it's rough.

Never thought about it that way but you're totally right, I was stuck waiting for a green light that wasn't coming.
