Unpopular opinion: Stop calling every crossover event 'iconic'

I see people on here saying stuff like the Amalgam comics from the 90s were iconic or that some random Batman vs Predator issue is iconic. It bugs me because not every team-up or big fight is iconic. Iconic means it changed the game or everyone knows it, like Crisis on Infinite Earths. I grew up reading my uncle's old comics in Austin, and he taught me the difference between a cool story and an actual game-changer. He had this rule: if you can't explain why it's iconic without saying 'because it was cool,' then it's not iconic. So how do you guys decide what really earns that word?

My uncle once lectured me for ten minutes about how the Death of Superman was just a marketing stunt not true iconic status, and he made me write down his reasons on a napkin. Still have that napkin somewhere in a box of old comics actually.

Wow @mila395, your uncle sounds like a real comic book hall monitor, huh?
