That time I got into a three hour debate about Batman's underwear at a coffee shop last month
So I'm sitting at this little place in Portland called Ground Up last month, just reading my comic and drinking my latte, when this guy sits down across from me and starts talking about how Batman wearing his underwear on the outside is the dumbest design ever. I said hey, it's a throwback to old circus strongman outfits, it's iconic. Then he goes off on this whole thing about how it's impractical for stealth and combat. Before I knew it, three hours had passed, my coffee was cold, and we had somehow gotten into the history of the trunks from the 1940s all the way to the New 52 era. The barista had to ask us to keep it down because we were getting loud about the Rebirth suit changes. Has anyone else gotten stuck in a random comic conversation like that where you lose all track of time?

Man, that sounds like a classic Portland coffee shop trap. They put something in the beans there that makes you turn a simple "cool suit, bro" into a whole dissertation on the practicality of Kevlar-reinforced spandex. I had a similar thing happen at a bar a few years back where I got cornered by a guy who was absolutely convinced that Wolverine's healing factor meant he could survive a shotgun blast to the face but somehow still gets knocked out by a punch from Sabretooth. Three beers later and I was drawing damage charts on a napkin with a dried up pen while the bartender was stacking chairs around us. At least you got a good story out of it and hopefully a new weird comic buddy to argue with.

Three hours feels about right for that topic. @jesse_burns8, the beans are definitely laced with something that makes you overanalyze costume choices. I see the suit design stuff differently though. The trunks break up the all grey silhouette and make him look less like a giant bat shaped target. Without them in the New 52 it just felt like a skintight body stocking with a belt.
