That day at Midtown Comics on 42nd Street when a guy yelled at me for flipping through issues without bagging them
I was just standing there looking at some Silver Age X-Men reprints, nothing special, and this older collector walks up and starts telling me I'm damaging the spines. He said I should treat every book like it's worth fifty bucks even if it's a three dollar filler issue. It got me thinking about how many people actually handle comics carelessly at shops and conventions. Now I always ask the store owner what their policy is before I touch anything, especially at places like Forbidden Planet or smaller local shops. Has anyone else run into that kind of gatekeeping at a big store and changed how you browse?

Treat every book like it's worth fifty bucks" ... yeah that guy sounds like he's been huffing the Mylar fumes too long. I once watched a grown man lose his entire mind at a con because some kid touched his graded Batman 423 without gloves... like it was a crime scene or something.

Last weekend I dropped my whole pull list in a puddle and still counted them like a disappointed accountant.
