Overheard a dad at the comic shop telling his kid to 'just read the good ones'

I was at The Dragon's Hoard last Saturday, and this guy was pointing at a wall of back issues. He told his son, 'You don't need to read everything, just find the good runs by writers you like.' It made me think about how I used to feel like I had to buy every #1 issue. Now I just follow a few artists, and my pull list is half the size. How do you decide what's worth keeping up with?

Totally agree with @riley_johnson90... same with video games now.

Honestly, that dad's advice is spot on and it goes way beyond comics. We're all drowning in too much stuff, too much content. I had to do the same with streaming shows, just picking the ones that really grab me instead of trying to watch everything that comes out. It's about choosing what you actually enjoy instead of what you feel you should do. How did you figure out which artists were worth following for you?
