My entire long box of 90s X-Men comics got water damaged in the basement flood

It happened two nights ago when that huge storm hit and the sump pump gave out. I went down there and the cardboard was just mush, some of the bags had fused to the covers. I spent about $400 over the years at garage sales putting that run together. Has anyone managed to save books from something like this, or are they just gone?

Man, that's a total gut punch, sorry to hear it. A buddy of mine had a similar thing happen with his old Spider-Man books after a pipe burst. He tried the whole freezer trick, separating pages that were stuck, but said most of them were pretty much toast after that. The ink had run and the paper just never felt right again, they stayed kinda crunchy. Honestly, from what he went through, if the cardboard turned to mush it might be a lost cause, which really stinks after all that time hunting them down.

Rough break, @terryrobinson. Sounds like a total loss. Water and cardboard never ends well.
