My con floor meltdown over a variant cover price at SDCC

I was at San Diego Comic Con last summer, the big hall, and this seller had a Todd McFarlane variant I really wanted, marked $120. I asked if he could do $100 and he just shook his head and turned to another customer, no words at all. I stood there for a full minute feeling stupid, then realized I had the cash but it was about the disrespect, not the deal. I walked away and found the same issue online for $85 two days later, so I saved money but I still think about how rude that guy was. Has anyone else had a vendor just dismiss them over a price check?

Ditch the mindset that every dealer deserves your respect just because they're standing behind a table. That guy was never going to haggle, he had his price and he moved on like a robot, which is still rude but it's also just business. You did the smart thing by walking and finding it cheaper online, that's the win. I've had vendors ignore me completely when I tried to talk about a fair number, and I just laugh now because they're the ones stuck with their stock. Next time, hand them the cash you're willing to pay and if they say no, turn around without saying a word, that gets the point across better than standing there feeling dumb.
