I spent $150 on graded comic books and it was a total waste
Everyone talks about how graded comics hold their value and protect your investment. I bought a slabbed copy of Amazing Spider-Man 300 at a convention last year for $150. The case got scratched in my bag on the way home and now it looks worse than a raw copy. Plus I can't even read the thing without cracking it open and losing the grade. Does anyone else think grading is mostly a scam for collectors who never actually enjoy the art?

It's just like everything else now. People buy phone cases that cost more than the phone and then baby them like they're made of glass. Same with shoes that sit in a box on a shelf instead of getting worn. We've turned normal stuff into display pieces you can't actually use. Your comic is supposed to be read and enjoyed, not locked in a plastic prison where one bump ruins it. The whole grading thing is just another way to sell you something extra you didn't need in the first place.

Oh man, that sucks. I bought a slabbed X-Men 94 once and my kid dropped it on the tile floor and cracked the plastic right across the cover. Now it's just a fancy paperweight with a giant scratch. Grading feels like paying extra for a fragile glass box around something that was fine to touch and read in the first place.
