I finally stopped buying every variant cover just because it looked cool

A guy at my local shop in Chicago, Mike the owner, straight up told me I was wasting $80 a month on covers I'd never even open to read. He said focus on the story and artist runs I actually follow instead of chasing hype. I cut down from 12 variants a month to just 3, and now I actually read the books I buy. Has anyone else had a shop employee give you tough love about your habits?

Nah, hoarding covers is a legit dragon move tho.

Oh man, Mike sounds like a good dude, I had a similar moment when I realized I was just hoarding covers like a dragon.
