Guy at my local shop told me to bag my comics in Mylar instead of poly bags. Said they last decades longer.
I rolled my eyes at first. Thought he was just trying to upsell me on expensive supplies. But after a year I checked some of my older books that I had in standard poly bags. They already started yellowing around the edges. The ones I switched to Mylar are still crisp. Lesson learned the hard way I guess. Anyone else had a shop employee give you advice that actually saved you money or hassle down the line?

Respectfully, Mylar is great for expensive keys but not really needed for most modern books. Poly bags do break down over time for sure, that yellowing thing is real. But you can buy a pack of 100 poly bags for what three Mylars cost. For my weekly pulls and dollar bin finds, I just swap out the poly bags every 18 months or so and they stay perfectly fine. The Mylar thing is only worth it if you're sitting on high grade bronze age keys or silver age books you plan to sell graded.

My dad used to wrap his records in old t-shirts and swore by it, so maybe we're all overthinking this.
